About Us

The Warwick School Of Dance Arts was created by theatre artiste, choreographer and qualified teacher, Amanda Warwick. Her training was at the Arnould School, Chessington, Pamela de Waal, Paignton and the Marian Jepson College, Manchester.

Her first professional show was at Drury Lane Theatre with David Essex, followed by nationwide tours of The Fol de Rolls, Snow White and later Grease, playing 'Frenchy.'
She has appeared in variety shows and pantomimes, playing 'Principal Girl' numerous times, often also engaged as choreographer.
She appeared as principal singer/dancer in The Marti Caine Show plus enjoyed summer seasons on the east and west coasts. TV credits include 'Not The Nine O'Clock News', 'Butterflies' and production on the children's show, Rainbow'.

Amanda formed, and appeared in the vocal/dance duo 'Quality Street' working in cabaret spots in England and all
over Europe. She then went on to play 'Graciella' in West Side Story at Nottingham Rep Theatre and subsequently
into the West End revival of West Side Story, playing  'Francesca ' in the pre-London season and then 'Anybodies'
in the West End. She was also female dance captain. Her final performance seasons were in Bedfordshire and
Torquay by which time the Warwick School had already been opened.  When the pupils first became busy with
'Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, it was inevitable that the school would take priority.

Some of Amanda's former pupils have gone on to dance and teach professionally
as far away as New York whilst others are successful in radio and television
broadcasting both behind and in front of the camera. The school has now
been established for over twenty years but always embraces new styles and ideas.

Seven years ago Amanda moved from Feltonfleet School to take over dance tuition at
Manor House School in Little Bookham. A full programme of dance is available there
and the children may integrate for purposes of exams and shows.

Piano/keyboard tuition is provided by Mr Trevor Lomas, who is a professional working musician and an experienced dance accompanist, formally of Elmhurst Ballet school. He also produces CD's for use in the dance industry

Our chosen charity is The Butterfly Appeal at Epsom General Hospital and the Royal Marsden Hospital, Sutton. Both are charities who raise money for Cancer Research

Did you know that you can take your Duke Of Edinburgh Awards in dance? If you are a school member, and of the required ability you will be able to have your 10 lesson course verified, and have your booklet filled in, ready for your school to process.

The children enjoy learning the culture of dances from around the world.
As well as practicing Polish, Hungarian and Russian,
or exams, we try all styles of dance both in class and to use in competitions.
These girls are showing a dance from Slovenia.

RAD examinations will be used as mark credits towards the new High School Diploma system, once the new examinations come into force in senior schools.
