Join Us

Buns WorshoppedJoining our school is easy at AWDA.  We always like to speak personally to prospective new members and welcoming you along to the school is the easiest way to get a flavour of what we do and the happy atmosphere in which the pupils learn and socialise. Currently we ask that you e-mail us via our contact form, or telephone on 01372 457274  between 9.30am to 2 30pm on weekdays, or evenings from 9.30pm to 10.30pm.

The more information that you can give about your search for the right classes and about your child, the more we can help you make a suitable selection.  We offer a free taster lesson for each class that a pupil may want to attend. We do ask that you take the taster class on an agreed date and ask you to understand that we cannot leave the invitation open ended.  We also offer ‘bring a friend’ days when our current pupils are invited to bring along their own close friends to enjoy a free class and to see what we do.

stage performanceIn class, we will aim to pair your son or daughter up with a ‘buddy’ who will partner them during their early days with us. We would like to advise that we may not agree to enrol children who wish to duplicate their dance lessons in other schools. This would not be of concern to us if you are also dancing at a non-exam performing arts group, during school curriculem or searching to fit in more major level classes (with the permission of your other teacher). Everyone is welcome as long as it is in the best interest of our pupils.

Once you have chosen to join us you will fill be asked to fill out a registration form.  Each year you will have your own personal pin number which appears on your invoices. Please always quote this when making a payment (please see terms and conditions below).
Billing is done by the term, in advance, and private lessons are billed at the end of each month. Invoices are either sent by e-mail or printed on a return envelope which will show your term details and fees. You can return the fees in the envelope by way of cheque or cash or pay by internet banking.

FEES

Classes range from £3.75 for our half hour infant class to £6.15 junior tap or jazz at 45 minutes.
Ballet grades @£7.50 or £7.75 per hour, dependant on level and £8.00 for Grade 4 upwards including students.

Since discount is given when a child takes three dance lessons or more per week, your payments will be costed for you on application, in order to gain you the best deal.  Some parents prefer to take discount in free lessons.

We do give a family discount for three children in one family. Where there are two children, if they are attending more than two hour long classes each, or one child is attending three classes, discount is then due.
Major syllabi classes are not included in the offers and the pointe work practice class is charged as an ‘add on’ to your regular ballet clases and thus discounted at source. Please enquire.

‘The Pink Ticket’  is a ticket which can be purchased at £30.00 per term or £17.50 per half term to allow your child into any extra classes, at any level they can manage, in the same subject as their chosen genres. They may come and go from these lessons and can use them to strengthen and improve their ability. This ticket would not apply if a dancer was working towards an exam, for example, attending Grade 4 RAD and then attending a second Grade 4 RAD class on the run up to the actual exam. It would be likely that the dancer was also taking other subjects and on adding the extra class, would gain discount in another way. We are here to help and explain and these offers do keep class fees managable.

We do carry a school mobile and we ask that you text when needing to contact us directly in the classroom.
You will be given the number on joining, if you do not have it already.

TERMS and CONDITIONS

Parents/guardians are required to complete and sign a registration form, agreeing to the terms and conditions of the school.  A duplicate of the completed registration form must be kept by the parent/guardian.

Beyond your first term with the school, you must give a term of paid notice if your child intends to leave.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE END OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR DOES NOT ACT AS A NATURAL TERMINATION OF YOUR ATTENDANCE AS IT DOES IN EDUCATIONAL SCHOOL CLUBS. School holidays are not included in your period of notice. A term is deemed to be ten weeks but in the practical sence of attendance, will vary in length.

All lessons in a term must be paid for by the date indicated on your bill. Overdue fees will be subject to a surcharge.

On the rare occasion where a pupil may be seriously ill, impaired long term, or have an accident requiring a hospital stay, the principal will discuss a financial arrangement with the parents which reflects the necessity for non-attendance of classes.

Pupils who leave and then return AWDA will not be given a free taster and may be charged a £30.00 administration fee, dependant on the circumstances.

The principal must be informed of any special needs, emotional upset or change of circumstances that a pupil may be affected by whilst in our care. This is particularly important when including such a child into exams or a show.

Rules of attendance are agreed to by the parents/guardians of pupils until the age of 18 years old.

Parent must remain responsible for the conduct, attendance and payment for those who are under 18 years old.
